Click here to give now and send workers in 2025!
Month-after-month, as current cross-cultural workers send their prayer letters or come through our Charlotte campus, they tell us how eager they are for God to grow their teams!
In this short clip from a recent SIM USA chapel, the Faders share about the incredible opportunities for ministry opening around them and talk about what kind of new worker they are praying for:
“Pray that God would send us another team member. We really need a _____________!”
You can be a vital part of growing multicultural mission teams around the world in 2025 by giving to Send More Workers at this strategic time of year.
So we all kinds of things this, well, this one didn’t make an income, but something that is close to my heart is literacy for women. And so I began a class teaching English literacy and you guys, these women two years later are reading English Bibles. Okay, and what has come with that is now I’ve also been asked to train early education teachers in how to teach literacy phonetically, because that’s not how the British school does it. So we’ve done trainings, we’ve done women’s conferences. You can’t really see in this picture, but the women to the right are teaching a type of weaving using a loom.
So we did a women’s conference with Bible teaching, but then also teaching a skill here. We did a class. Raise your hand if you know what a mandazi is. Okay, A doughnut, kind of. So we taught them how to make very nice mandazi that they can sell on the way that the kids are walking to school. So they have to buy a doughnut as they go to school. This was super fun – cake baking. I got to teach women how to bake cakes and decorate them because they’re actually quite expensive to buy for special events. So now these women are known in the community that they can make nice cakes for birthdays, weddings and so on.
Who knows what this is? Kombucha. Does anyone drink kombucha? Okay, you guys, it’s not a joke. It’s actually really good for you. And, and where we live, people have major ulcers and heartburn issues because of the beans and eating one meal a day. They drink a cup of this a day and they’re fine. No medicine needed. And so we’ve taught classes on how to make kombucha is so funny.
And then this is a new ministry that Eli has started. Can anyone guess? Beekeeping Yes, I will admit I’ve called it his midlife crisis, but he is very into beekeeping because honey. These bees are crazy honey makers in our area and it’s there are so many things that you can do. It’s not just the honey you use the beeswax you use the propolis. There’s all this stuff that I mock, but it’s, it’s pretty cool. And what Eli is doing is he has started a beekeeping association, a Christian beekeeping association in Ajumani. And these guys are working together to, you know, try to make some little income.
Two prayer requests as we finish up here. One, we’ve been invited to go into the prisons in Ajumani and do theological education there. So praise God for that. So number one, pray for this program as we begin number two, we’re integrating beekeeping into our theological education studies. I need a business person to come and join us. I’m a Bible teacher, not a business person, and I need a business person. So pray for that, all right?
