Praise for Dale’s health improvement so that he is able to travel. Pray for him as he plans trips to countries with SIM safe drinking water ministries and as he leads a two-day workshop May 29-30 in Rodeo, Bolivia, teaching the newest group of families how to build their own pumps. Pray for wisdom in the process of helping a local technician assume this teaching role. Pray also for a long-term missionary engineer for the team in Vacas, and wisdom in mobilizing urban Christian Bolivian engineers to be involved as volunteers with the SafeWater ministry.
Praise for Luke’s new role with SIM USA as Appointee Coordinator, helping new appointees complete their training requirements, raise support and adapt to their first year in the field. Pray also for Tiffany as she helps Luke and encourages new appointees through hospitality and prayer. Praise for many gracious hosts and supporters during the past five months of transition from Zambia to their new role, and for the refreshment and healing they experienced at a special three-week retreat in Michigan. Pray now for a smooth transition into their new ministry, additional support partners, and a new church and friends.
Praise for their participation in the new Leadership Development Initiative of SIM International by making a two-year commitment to an intensive mentor/coach relationship with the new SIM Mozambique country leaders. Pray that this couple, who built a home and settled in a small Yao village five years ago, will see God move powerfully as they work in church planting. Pray also for the eight couples who are meeting in Greece May 13-22 with eight emerging leaders. Pray that God will knit each team together as they begin this two-year journey. Pray also for the Griffiths as they coach other SIM workers who are going through transitions.
Praise that the Pizzutis are now part of a SIM Leadership Team, starting in April and covering a broad spectrum of responsibilities. Pray for wisdom for them as they prioritize their activities and seek to raise additional support in order to become full-time with SIM. Pray for a leader to head up the SIM cross-cultural ministry in America and for a strategic plan that will honor God. Pray that the Lord will use SIM BAM (Business as Mission) initiatives to reach at least two new “unreached” people groups around the world in the next two years.
Pray for our SIM missionaries in Nepal during this time following the devastating earthquake. Praise that they all survived and are accounted for, and pray that they will find adequate shelter, food and water. Since many of the team are in the medical profession, pray for added strength and wisdom as they deal with the influx of injured people coming to the hospitals. Pray for the many Nepalese who have dead or still-missing relatives and friends, and pray for the relief organizations that are seeking to provide the basic necessities to many who lost everything. Pray also that Christians will be strong in their faith and witness.
Praise for the opportunity Candy has to travel with a group of seven students from Liberty University to Bolivia on a short term mission trip May 14-26. Pray for the team’s preparation and then as they share testimonies, devotionals, children’s programs, and do practical service projects for the shoe shiner community. Pray for meaningful interactions as they backpack through the Andes mountains for three days with a group of shoe shiners and their families. Pray that those they meet with in Bolivia will experience the love of Christ. Pray also for Candy’s financial needs, since her support level has dropped to about 50%.
Pray for Dave as he leads a team of about 20 dedicated workers in the SIM USA Finance Department, handling finances for ministries and projects, as well as personal financial matters for SIM USA workers worldwide. Pray for healing and comfort for members of the team who have experienced serious illness and loss.Praise for Dave’s productive visit to Bolivia earlier this year to audit SIM Bolivia’s finances. Pray for Mary’s challenging work in Child Safety and Member Care as she walks with families through very difficult situations. Pray for God’s protection for children and families.
Praise for the many opportunities this month to serve the Lord through SIM. Pray for Bob as he coaches missionaries designated for China and Ethiopia in building their support teams, and maintains contact with around 120 people working toward applying to SIM. Pray also as he hosts The Journey Deepens retreat at SIM USAApril 24-26. Pray for Amy as she continues to help shape the 2020 Five-Year Strategic Direction document for SIM and finalizes edits for the Task Force meeting. Pray also as she assists the Applicant Review Committee with the Short Term Associate program, plus handles many other heavy responsibilities.
Praise for Scott’s recent trip to China where he met with leadership of the theological education division of China Christian Council (CCC) (China’s officially registered church) and visited three of their 22 seminaries. Praise for a strong element of evangelical Christianity in the CCC and openness to organizations such as Overseas Council (represented by Scott) which partners in providing library resources and training of seminary faculty and leadership. Pray for the huge and rapidly growing number of Christians in China, in both registered and non-registered churches, and also for the challenges being faced.
