General Questions

Support accounts provide for a missionary’s salary, medical insurance, retirement, home assignment travel, administrative costs, and basic living needs. We use this account to keep our missionaries in ministry.

Ministry accounts provide for a missionary’s work-related expenses. This account is separate from the missionary’s regular Support Account.

Some (not all) of our missionaries include monthly ministry expenses as another line item in their monthly support budget. This is the case if you see an option to give only to your missionary’s support account. By giving to their support account, you can rest assured that they will have funds available for ministry activities.

Yes. You may try Online giving by selecting “This is a one-time donation” in the Gift Type drop down box. You will see how easy and efficient the process really is.
Your statement will include a line item for your monthly gift. In addition SIM will continue to provide you with a receipt for your tax records.
SIM does not send monthly invoices; however, an official tax receipt is generated for each one-time gift. This receipt is an official record of your one-time contribution and should not be considered a bill. Recurring monthly gifts are not receipted; however, a year-end Giving Statement will be sent for tax purposes. All contributions to SIM are considered to be freewill gifts.

Tax-deductible contributions are made with the understanding that SIM has complete control and administration over the use of donations received.

If a missionary status changes, i.e., they are unable to go to their field of service or need to return early, etc., the gifts received for their ministry will be redirected to missionaries in need.

Each designation given to approved projects is dispersed with the understanding that when the need has been met within the project, donations will be redirected to where needed most, preferably a similar project, at the discretion of SIM.

These directions are consistent with IRS guidelines in receipting tax-deductible gifts.
