SIM’s Prayer and Financial Partners Delivered a Gift of Love to Christians in Zimbabwe

“I am delighted to make this short report on the gift of love extended to our field …” began the account from Caiphas and Sekai Ngarivhume, two SIM team members in Zimbabwe.

Thanks to SIM USA’s prayer and financial partners, we were able to provide urgently needed supplies to help medical personnel in Zimbabwe stay safe as they combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Caiphas and Sekai wrote on behalf of two medical facilities …

Rusitu Hospital, established by SIM in the mid-1900s, is a referral hospital for six rural clinics in a valley of more than 50,000 people. We were able to provide the following items:

  • KN95 masks
  • Aprons
  • Face shields
  • Latex gloves
  • Surgical/sterile gloves
  • Infrared thermometers and batteries
  • Nebulizing machines
  • Hand sanitizer

With limited staff and limited funds, Chikwakwa Rural Health Center serves approximately 2,400 people in a remote area. The one thermometer they had was no longer working! They also desperately needed soap for washing uniforms and other materials. We provided:

  • KN95 face masks
  • Disposable delivery gowns (they deliver babies there almost every month)
  • Face shields
  • Infrared thermometers and batteries
  • Laundry soap
  • Liquid soap

The supplies were eagerly welcomed in both locations. “Zimbabwe … has experienced continuous economic downfall for the past 20 years,” Caiphas and Sekai explained. “As a result, its health care delivery system is ruined.” Quick response from the Church in America helped meet critical needs in Zimbabwe as COVID-19 put even more pressure on SIM-affiliated medical facilities. “Thank you very much for this generous gift,” Caiphas and Sekai concluded.

As we praise God for this positive report, we encourage you to look through the words and pictures on this page and pick something that stands out to you. Then, thank God for how He is working through the Church to demonstrate His love to a hurting world. And, let’s keep praying for our brothers and sisters as they continue to combat COVID-19.

a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God."
