Need Protective Gear and
Supplies to help Save Lives
The spread of COVID-19 is expected to peak in late May or early June in communities across Africa, South America, and South Asia, where many of SIM’s hospitals and medical clinics are located.
Motivated to show the love of Jesus, many of SIM’s medical workers are selflessly choosing to stay on the front lines of the pandemic, putting their own lives at risk.
To care for patients suffering from COVID-19, these workers urgently need personal protective equipment such as masks, gloves, and gowns, along with other tools and supplies to save lives.
As the impact of the pandemic is felt across the global south, we’re trusting God to raise $850,000 to reach our medical workers with lifesaving supplies.
To help, a special friend of SIM USA has given a $120,000 Challenge Gift and is asking other friends to join with them. Your gift, when combined with their support, will double in impact to meet critical needs. Please note that the challenge funds only apply to this request and not to individual SIM workers or other projects.
Some of the needs are basic but crucial. In Zambia, for example, one of our hospitals urgently needs $8,000 to purchase soap to combat the spread of the virus. Other needs are more specialized: One of our hospitals is facing a shortage of oxygen, a frightening prospect when faced with a pandemic that affects the lungs.
God has uniquely prepared SIM to be His hands and feet at this moment in time. Our significant experience with Ebola, a previous devastating health crisis, has positioned us to be a leader in fighting this pandemic in underserved communities.
The pandemic’s impact on our nation’s economy has left many families struggling. We never want you to feel pressured to give. But if you feel led, please consider helping today. Thanks to the $120,000 Challenge Gift, your gift will double in impact. Thank you.
