A Note from Inside South Asia
“We’re the only foreigners here. The people are poor. We live among the largest unreached people group in the world. And we love it.
“My wife, Joy, and I have a heart for the people here. Soon after we were married, we were thrilled to join SIM because of its history and vision of making Jesus known where He is least known.
“Through the Transformational Education Center (TEC), Joy and I, together with two other SIM couples, are allowed to go from place to place—schools, coaching centers, businesses, orphanages, and others—teaching a variety of life skills, though right now we primarily teach English. This is our gateway to building relationships with people who have never met a Christian or heard the Good News (see story below). TEC is our tool for sowing gospel seeds, building relationships, and offering joy and hope in an otherwise very dark part of the world.”

"CAN I ASK YOU A QUESTION ABOUT JESUS CHRIST?"
by Jacob Berlin
That’s what Lito asked me as we sat down in our living room, where a local-language Bible is on display.
Lito wanted to know what Jesus taught about morality. Unfortunately, most people here, like Lito, only know of Christianity from what they see on immoral foreign TV programs. It’s easy to assume that’s what all “Christians” practice.
He could tell our family was not like the “Hollywood” family units he had seen on TV. He also lamented about the town we live in here, which is home to one of the largest brothels in the country where many vulnerable girls fall victim to a vicious cycle that is almost impossible for them to escape. He feels this is hypocritical of the town and its predominant religion.
As we talked about what Christ taught, I opened the Bible and we read some verses from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount together.
Please be praying for Lito and the students he teaches. I have been teaching them an English class and spending time with them. May God open more opportunities to share, and may He soften hearts!
