A Boy and His Dad at the Hospital
When an 11-year-old boy with an eye infection brought his father, who had leprosy, to Danja Health and Leprosy Center, neither knew how dramatically their lives would change. The father was in treatment for one year, during which time he learned about Jesus from SIM hospital workers. The boy’s eye was treated quickly, and he began school as his father’s treatment continued.
The boy had never heard of Jesus, either, and was fascinated with a colorful book of Bible stories in the Hausa language. As a SIM worker patiently sat with him and read him stories day after day, the boy came to know, love, and commit his life to the Lord. The father later became an evangelist, and the boy went on to establish a church in a village of nonbelievers before returning to the hospital where he’s served as chaplain for the last 12 years.
