Praise for the energy Becky had for all the activities this summer. Praise also for the four interns who helped further the long-term work of Global Frontier Mission as they helped with projects for City Oasis and served a local refugee resettlement agency. Pray for the video editing projects Becky will be working on this fall. Pray that the finished products will be used to further God’s kingdom.
Praise for the Gradones’ opportunity to travel to Jerusalem to meet with African Disciple-making Leaders (DMLs) and wives who were celebrating two and a half years of disciple-making training and mentoring. Pray for them to fulfill their commission as leaders in their denominations and countries. Pray for the African Strategic Discipleship Movement (ASDM) as it works with them and trains a second group of DMLs beginning in early 2019. Pray also for J.P. as he coordinates translation of the ASDM curriculum into Portuguese and French.
Praise for the recent meeting in Israel of church leaders of the Africa Strategic Discipleship Movement from 16 African nations. Praise for the many discipleship lessons learned in the past two and a half years. Pray that they will work as a team to apply these lessons in their countries. Pray for Tom and colleagues as they walk alongside them in the next four years and organize the next meeting of leaders in early 2019.
Praise for Scott’s privilege of leading Overseas Council (OC) with its mission of equipping leaders to strengthen the global church. Praise that he was able to visit a country in Asia where believers are multiplying rapidly. Pray for biblically-trained leaders to enable them to withstand false teaching and persecution. Praise that he conducted a training at the oldest bachelor’s level Bible college there. Pray for him as he shares OC’s ministry with potential donors in Florida this month.
Praise that Courtney is becoming Financial Manager of Sports Friends, having seen firsthand the effectiveness of the ministry in building the church around the world through visits to several countries. She writes, “I am excited to be a part of this amazing ministry and cannot wait to see how the Lord continues to use Sports Friends.” Pray that God will raise up a team committed to praying and financially supporting her as she uses her skills and training to fulfill this vital role.
Praise for Bill and Grace’s trip where Bill shared and interacted with students and faculty in mission classes at Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS) and Grace participated in a Bible study with DTS student wives. Pray for students preparing for a short-term missions trip to Ethiopia this summer, and praise for the encouragement Bill’s sharing of God’s work there was to them. Pray that one church’s outreach team that Bill and Grace worked with to connect with SIM-related churches in Ethiopia will partner with them in reaching an unreached people group.
Praise for Michelle’s opportunity at the recent SIM Global Assembly to give the closing address and share the importance of mentoring young believers as they move into ministry. Pray God would use Sports Friend’s biggest fund raising effort of the year to provide for camps in nine countries, including two special-needs camps in Kenya. Praise that the Lord has provided a Support Services Team Leader to help with donor development. Pray also that Michelle’s financial support need would be met so she can remain with SF.
Praise for Brian’s opportunity in March to present the “Paths to School Improvement” (PSI) training to 40 leaders of eight Christian schools in a country in West Africa. Praise also that pilot programs in Uganda and Rwanda have been very successful. Pray for the plan to train others how to conduct the PSI training, since at least 30 leaders are needed to meet the demand. Pray for Brian as he presents PSI to the 90 participants at the ACSI International School Leaders’ Conference the end of this month. Pray also for needed additional prayer and financial supporters for the Blisses.
Praise for the Foutes’ ministry trip to Nigeria, Thailand and South Africa. Praise that in Nigeria believers were given a two-week training to help traumatized people. Praise for the connections made in Thailand at a spiritual life conference with 70 adults from 19 countries. Pray for lasting fruit from the two-day healing group they led in South Africa. Pray for wisdom as they fly to Asia at the end of March to help debrief cross-cultural workers who have been forced to leave their ministry location, and as they provide training in Charlotte in trauma healing at the end of April.
