Praise for the opportunity Denise had to visit another SE Asian country to discover stories of God’s work to highlight in her work as a communications writer. Pray for the missionaries there in the long process of building trust with minority people groups. Pray for the needs for administration and finance personnel in the SIM Thailand office. Pray for one of her teammates who is doing it all and is quite overloaded. Pray also for discernment for Denise as she enters her second year of ministry (and considers extending her time), and for safe travels next month as she visits the US briefly.
Pray for the Francises as they prepare to move from Thailand in a few days to begin ministry in another Asian country. Pray that Steve can help the new treasurer for SIM C-SEA be well prepared to assume this responsibility. Pray they can find a good balance between moving on/letting go and keeping in touch with those with whom they have become close. Pray for good closure with Thai friends, and that some items they still have will sell. Pray for discernment to choose wisely within the ministry opportunities ahead of them and for a good adjustment to new situations and ministry partners.
Praise for the Lord’s provision of a temporary facility (a school built for 1000 students that currently has only 100) to provide space for the students of Grace International School, which had to vacant its current location. Sharon writes, “Just a short time ago we had no idea of what to do next. While there is a grieving process at the loss of our wonderful school, we are thrilled with this new place that God had in His back pocket waiting to pull out and surprise us!” Pray for the staff members as they pack and move the school, as well as learn how to share the facility with another school running at the same time. Pray they can be ready by August 1.
Praise for the full year of living in Thailand and that she was able to obtain a change from a language student visa to a volunteer visa. Pray for continued progress in language. Praise also that she is now more fully involved as SIM Thailand’s administrative manager and is enjoying the role. Pray for her as she continues to learn, especially since she is handling all personnel duties while her coworker is on home assignment. Praise for her Thai church, where she is enjoying praising God in another language. Pray for deepening relationships with others there. Pray also for her as she travels to Bangkok this week to visit coworkers and learn more about their ministries and how to be of support.
Pray for Steve and Sherree during a very stressful time of preparing to complete their ministry in Thailand before moving to serve in another Asian country, now complicated by an unexpected return to the US for a family crisis. Pray for wisdom for them to discern the way ahead, and grace to take one day at a time, knowing that the Lord is in charge. Pray that Steve can manage his treasurer role remotely during this busy time of the year. Pray also that they can be moved out of their house in Thailand by the end of May and find temporary housing until leaving the country, now scheduled for July 20.
Praise for God’s leading the Starks to serve alongside a church in Bankok. Pray for them as they not only labor to plant churches around the metropolitan area, but also work towards the revitalization of an existing church that has been near to closing its doors. Pray also that the Lord will provide additional funds so they can purchase a safer car, since they are driving more on highways at faster speeds, and their current one is unstable as well as being too small.
Praise for an opportunity Wendy had to visit a people group with which missionaries are working where many have never even heard the name of Jesus. Praise also that she has found a Thai church in which to use her musical abilities and practice her language with kind people who are patient and help her. Pray for her as she heads to Malaysia, which is necessary to change her language-learning visa to a business one. Pray also as she steps into her new role as SIM Thailand Administrative Manager, while continuing her language study part time.
Praise that Wendy was able to spend Christmas in Japan with family, and then travel to the US for her grandma’s funeral. Praise also for the past week’s opportunity to visit the team doing church planting and university ministry among a large unreached people group to learn how to better support their work. Pray as she increases time in the office and in her role of supporting the SIM Thailand team. Praise that she is doing well in language school, which is her majority occupation in this second half of her first year in Thailand, and pray for continued good progress.
