Praise that Dinesh completed teaching the Ezra Theology Course module. One student exclaimed, “After two years, I got it! I now understand HOW to do [Bible] exegesis and exposition.” Pray for Dinesh as he prepares to teach workshops over the next four months. Pray for the South Asian consortium involved in theological education primarily among rural pastors equipping them to build healthy churches. Pray for a nurse friend who is now confined to her home by her family because of her decision for Christ. Pray also for Shannon as she begins a new homeschool year.
Praise for good health for Joy as the family awaits the birth of baby number four, and pray for wisdom to choose where the baby should be born. Pray that they would also have wisdom to choose among multiple ministry opportunities while fulfilling mission responsibilities, teaching English, counseling girls rescued from a brothel, and homeschooling the children. Pray for many opportunities to demonstrate the power of prayer with friends. Pray also that they can maintain their visa status.
Praise that Susie is in an education program with the goal “that new autism ministries and other disability ministries will arise to plant a seed of hope in the name of Jesus among the nations. . ..” Pray for her as she takes a three-week trip to South Asia to visit ministries and meet with her leadership about her next steps. Pray for wisdom regarding who can supervisor her practice hours so she can continue her studies while based in South Asia, what ministry to come alongside and when to return to South Asia.
Praise that Joy is expecting a fourth child with a due date August 31. Pray for health and a safe delivery for both her and her baby. Praise that, though she was robbed of her phone and money recently, she was protected. Pray for direction from the Lord for their ministry this year, and the possibility of children’s ministries, especially since an orphanage is being started near them. Praise for the help the young woman who has been staying with them has given in homeschooling the children. Pray for guidance as she considers returning as a long-term mission worker to minister to women.
Praise for God’s provision for local church planters through the sacrificial support very poor house churches are giving them after outside funding dried up for this ministry that Dinesh helps oversee. Pray that the local believers would move from merely attending church to being active members of the Body. Praise for the work God did in Shannon’s heart to love some difficult children who have started coming to Sunday School. Pray that these children from another religion would come to know and love Jesus.
Praise for the rest and reconnections Steve and Sherree had over the holidays in Thailand. Pray for them as they deal with the cold, continue language learning, and work to balance learning and ministry. Praise for the successful walk-a-thon held in January that raised over $55,000 toward the new building for the international study center. Pray that the additional funds needed will come in and for the transition to the new site in February. Pray for wisdom for Steve as he leads the school/staff through the budgeting process.
Praise that God has brought Josh and Bethany to a place of peace about remaining in the US for another six months. Pray for Josh’s trip to South Asia in February to grieve the loss of a dear friend, check on their unattended apartment, encourage teammates, water seeds of the gospel planted in friends and meet with leadership to talk about their future in South Asia. Pray that God would grant all they need to return to the field: renewed vision, financial provision, visa platform, and continued healing and restoration for Bethany.
Praise that after the past three years in South Asia Sarah now has a legally-registered company, bank account and a long list of students. Praise for the over half-a-dozen women and families that she and her team pray for regularly who are receiving truth slowly into their lives. Praise also for the way God has used her to contribute to her field’s leadership team, write stories of what God is doing through them and coach new team members in language learning. Pray for a new visa to be granted and for new supporters to join her team so that she can return to the field.
Praise for Don and Cheryl’s safe arrival in country. Praise for their 90-day visa that allowed them to enter the country, and pray for the process of extending these visas now that they are on site. Praise for the recent SIM annual conference and the seven regional teams that make up the country-wide SIM team. Pray for Don and Cheryl as they are currently ‘alone’ in their city and for the two families that will join them soon. Pray for more workers to join them as well. Pray that Cheryl will be able to share the light of the gospel through the ESL program with which she will be working.
