Praise for the 23 people who attended a recent Hispanic Mobilizers training, and for the many more who listened online in different states and countries. Praise also that one young Hispanic couple has made the decision to apply to SIM, and pray for them as they begin this process. Pray that God will raise up Hispanic Mobilizers who are passionate about missions and that more Latino/Hispanic people will serve. Pray for Alexandra as she trains mobilizers, and pray that they will be effective in promoting missions and raising up missionaries among Hispanics.
Praise for TEN3’s “Families and Media” ministry materials, developed as a seminar for mothers, but now expanded to include fathers and youth. Praise also for the Bible study for parents to use to then teach their families. Praise that ECWA International College of Technology in Jos, Nigeria, has now adapted “Families and Media” as part of its core curriculum, with great results. Pray for five Nigerians as they finish the Bible curriculum training in order to begin education centers in other communities. Praise for God’s provision of equipment to expand ministry in Nigeria. Pray that it will be used powerfully for God’s glory.
Praise for the opportunity Ralph and Jon are currently having to minister in two countries in West Africa. Pray for them as they speak to various groups, including speaking at the first graduation of a Bible school started by a former student of Ralph’s, as well as at a biblical leadership conference. Pray that they will be able to strengthen and encourage church leaders and missionaries as they travel. Pray for stamina in a non-stop time of ministry, and for Spirit-filled meetings. Pray also for safety in travel.
Praise for the many missionary appointees and short-term missionaries on campus for training in recent weeks. Pray for the Spirit’s guidance and blessing for SIMGo activities this week. Pray for Charlie as he travels to New York and meets with supporters October 20-27. Pray for God’s provision of their monthly financial support which faces a serious deficit. Pray also for guidance for Tami in the ministry the Lord has given her coaching SIM missionaries and others in fulfilling God’s calling on their lives.
Pray for the Lord’s blessing on CIT (The Center for Intercultural Training) during the fall session which has began. Pray for sensitivity to God’s voice and good health for the 35 participants and children, and for Steve and the other facilitators and children’s workers. Pray especially for Steve’s health and for wisdom for the specialist he met with recently at Duke University in Durham, NC. Praise for the opportunity the Smith’s teenage son had recently to travel to Texas with a group from their church and help in the repair of churches damaged by the recent hurricane.
Praise for the opportunity the Hunts had to reconnect with their family and ministry partners in California. Pray for Rachel as she attends a coaching/mentoring seminar this month. Pray for Shelbey as he works in the International Leadership and Services office and helps roll out a new donation campaign, creates online resources for the office personnel, and assists with redesigning an internal system that SIM uses to share documents. Pray also for additional financial support they need.
Praise for God’s grace and strength as Doug and Esther and family continue on in their difficult journey with Esther’s ALS. Continue to pray for them as Esther writes, “For me, having ALS is a season of learning to trust God more. I continue to find him infinitely reliable.” Pray for ongoing strength for Doug as he continues at SIM in his responsibility of debriefing missionaries on home assignment. Pray also for him and the finance team as they help equip new workers and provide support services for staff globally. Pray for additional needed help on the finance team.
Praise for a blessed summer traveling in the US and visiting friends, family and supporters. Pray for them now as, after years in Asia, they move to Charlotte at the end of September. Pray for Rich as he begins a new leadership role on staff at the SIM USA office helping with the selecting, developing, sending and care of missionaries, as well as strengthening sending churches. Pray as he prepares to share at the Global Missions Health Conference in Louisville, KY, November 9-11. Pray for Susan as she begins homeschooling their children and for her Family Medicine Board Recertification Exam on November 6. Pray also for additional needed support funds.
Praise for the rains that have brought the ability to plant and harvest crops. Praise also for the joy Fulani sisters in Christ exhibit as the Lord has removed the fear with which they had lived. Pray for them and others as they are baptized and demonstrate their commitment to Christ boldly. Pray for deepening relationships and more opportunities to mentor the new Christians. Pray for strength for Rachel to persevere and complete the TIMO (Training in Mission Outreach) curriculum in the next few weeks. Pray also for deepening love among TIMO team members and health for both the team and the community.
