Praise for the success of Dave’s recent trip to South Africa, Zambia and Malawi to help with financial audits in each country and attend SIM’s Global Assembly. Pray for safety for Dave and for opportunities to encourage others as he has more travel in the months ahead. Pray for wisdom and steadfastness in the face of sometimes difficult situations for Mary as she works with the Child Safety Advocacy team. Pray also for financial provision, as the Deckers’ support continues to be lower than their requirement.
Praise for the Lord’s provision in the many challenges Jim and Connie have faced during their 34 years of missionary service. Pray for Jim’s continuing work in the SIM USA shipping department and that the current shipment of methanol for SIMAIR in Niger will pass the different border crossings and final customs paperwork in Niger. Pray also for a missionary colleague hospitalized recently with chronic Lyme’s disease and two missionaries who are being held by terrorists. Pray also for the Knowltons’ financial support needs.
Praise for the opportunities the Wesslers have to train, encourage and mentor new missionary appointees as they come through the Charlotte office. Pray for Luke as he oversees this process, as well as carrying on his ministry of video chatting with newly-arrived missionaries at regular intervals during their first year in their country. Praise that this provides a safe place for them to express concerns and frustrations, share joys and celebrations, and have an element of accountability and counsel. Pray for the Wessler family as they use their home to host missionaries, and pray also for adequate financial support.
Praise that there are 100 pounds of books ready to be shipped to Zambia for a Chinese SIM member from New Zealand working in theological training. Pray that the books will reach those who need them. Praise for technology that makes the work of spreading the gospel more efficient. Pray for good communication and planning as Calvin works with colleagues all over the world to maintain licenses and software availability that need annual subscriptions for access on the Cloud. Pray also for Calvin and Erika as they travel to share about their ministry with supporters the first half of March.
Praise that since returning to the US, Dave and Margie have been serving on the Healthcare Advocacy Team of SIM. Pray for them as they and the team support the over 200 SIM medical missionaries, sharing in the early orientation of new missionaries preparing to leave for the field, and mentoring them here and when they reach the field. Praise also for the opportunities they have to do short-term work in mission hospitals, which gives Dave opportunity to maintain his orthopedic skills.
Praise that Taylor has been accepted to work with the recruitment and mobilization team in the SIM USA office. Pray that God will raise up a prayer and support team allowing her to start her new work. Pray for wisdom regarding where to serve for three months in order to get more overseas experience—possibly in Greece among refugees. Praise, especially, for Taylor’s recent engagement. Pray that during this season of great joy and great change she remembers that God’s timing and ways are best.
Praise for Dwight’s eclectic background in technology that has qualified him to assist the SIM USA IT group to define and refine policies and procedures. Pray for him as he begins this new assignment in February. Praise for a more encouraging report Dorothy has received regarding her ongoing pulmonary hypertension, and pray that the right balance of medications can be found to ease the nausea she lives with. Pray that God will raise up more supporters to make up for the budget shortfall they are currently experiencing.
Pray for the Gradones as they settle in Birmingham and seek to develop relationships in their neighborhood and church. Praise for the opportunity J.P. had to be a part of the dynamic disciple-making movement throughout Africa by attending training sessions for sixteen Disciple-making Leaders who came from several countries. Pray for them as they become more and more equipped to expand and deepen the disciple-making movement. Pray for J.P. as he coordinates the final edit and production of the discipleship manual – as well as its translation into French, Portuguese and Swahili.
Praise for the missionary appointees and short-termers on campus recently for training. Pray for those now seeking to raise their prayer and financial support teams and for those soon leaving for the field. Pray for Charlie as he travels with a team from his church to Peru February 2-9 to assist and encourage churches and pastors in remote areas. Pray for safety and effective ministry. Pray for Tami at home as she coaches SIM missionaries and others to live out God’s calling. Pray also for the February SIM prayer campaign for the supply of teachers for SIM partnering schools who serve missionary families overseas.
