Praise that the Krupke family can see the good that God has given each of them in their continued transition to life and ministry in Charlotte. Pray for wisdom as they seek the best church home. Praise for the grace God gave to Nathan and Sara during his many travels over the past year. Pray that he would bless the workers as he goes to Ecuador for two weeks to do an audit and that Sara would have strength and wisdom to handle things at home.
Praise for the eight units (13 people) who are on the campus for SIMSendOff, which is their final training in preparation for an imminent departure to several continents. Pray that they would be able to assimilate the information in the midst of major transitions. Pray for all the staff of SIM USA who are ministering to them in a variety of ways including hospitality, counseling, presentations, immunizations, etc.
Praise for the Hammacks’ opportunity to share the good news of Jesus with the people God has brought to the US from many nations. Pray for Terry and Sue as they minister to international students through Bible study and to immigrant children through an ESL Children’s Club. Pray for Sue as she helps prepare summer interns and fall Missionary Training School students for cross-cultural outreach. Pray for Terry as he travels to Poland in September with a team from their church for a week of university student outreach.
Praise that the Penno’s have settled into their own place and developed new relationships at work, church and in their neighborhood. Pray for wisdom for Sue as she works with healthcare leaders who are guiding the future of SIM medical missions. Pray for peace as she teaches at a healthcare leadership course in Kenya in September. Pray for physical strength for Pete as the construction work he is doing on new Member Care offices is strenuous and the days are hot.
Praise that since Steve and Esther arrived at the Center for Intercultural Training in January 2015 they have been a part of training 536 missionaries going to 96 different countries on all six continents. Pray that the new group of missionary trainees who arrived May 20 would build a sense of community as they learn together for six weeks. Pray for physical strength and grace for Steve as he leads classes in spite of chronic illness.
Praise for the opportunity Brittany has to serve at a camp for asylum seekers in Europe for two weeks. Pray for her as she helps lead a group of university students at the camp and seeks wisdom regarding future SIM opportunities with the organization with which the team is partnering. Pray for travel mercies, good health under harsh conditions, unity and effective ministry for the team. Pray for encouragement for the overworked long-term workers in the camp.
Praise for God’s gift of health, safety and faithful supporters in their 44 years with SIM and 33 years of active overseas medical ministry. Pray for their ministry to people who are severely deformed and disabled. Pray as Louis concentrates on helping start the first plastic surgery residency in Kenya at Kijabe Hospital, and as he and Anne consider two hospitals in Africa at which to work next. Pray also as Louis revises his and an associate’s popular textbook on reconstructive surgery for African general surgeons.
Pray for volunteers that can help Dale and Helen get their major Self Help Safe Water (SHSW) materials written, updated and online this year. Praise that a volunteer is taking time off in July from his work to lead the SHSW engineering internship program in Bolivia. Pray for safety and quick adaptation for an SIM family moving to West Africa to develop low-cost well-drilling technology and equip others to serve needy communities. Praise for improved health for Dale, but pray for complete healing.
Praise for a new person that will be joining Sandy as an Applicant Coordinator. Pray for wisdom as they all counsel and encourage those who are seeking to become SIM missionaries by making the connections between workers and countries. Pray for the next SIMStart, May 16-20, and for wisdom for Sandy as she interviews several new applicants. Pray also for Jim as he travels to Ohio May 20 for a week to continue work on the SIMAIR plane being prepared for service in Niger.
