Praise for a good year of teaching for Jim at EBI (Ethnos360 Bible Institute) and for Kathy at FCCS (Faith Community Christian School). Pray that Jim would be filled with the truth of God’s Word and the Holy Spirit as he prepares students for missionary service. Pray also that he would be able to carve out time and focus for his work on the book about the Holy Spirit for the Bolivian Bible Seminary. Pray for the many details that need to be worked out so that Kathy can join Jim on his next teaching trip to Bolivia this summer.
Praise for Ken and Cathy’s official retirement beginning October 1, 2017, and that they have joined the ranks of ROYALLS (Retired on Yet Another Labor of Love). Praise that they are fully supported for a ministry trip to Egbe Hospital in Nigeria for three months. Pray for their final preparations for leaving on January 18. Pray for Ken as he works in the hospital revitalization project and Cathy as she helps with their grandkids while their mother teaches full time.
Praise for the leading of the Lord that has redirected the Linsz family once again to remain for a longer time in the US and for Dan to become the International Support Services Team leader for Sports Friends. Pray that they can find an appropriate house to purchase in the right neighborhood near the SIM headquarters. Pray for Corrie as she homeschools their boys, and pray for stability for the family and continued healing from the traumatic event of Dan’s stabbing in Costa Rica during their language school experience.
Praise that the Lord has brought the Krupke family from Texas to serve at SIM USA, where Nathan is the CFO. Praise also that Sara will become Guest Services Administrative Assistant, beginning January 3, helping to coordinate the use of the guest house and transportation for missionaries and guests as they come through the home office. Pray for ongoing adjustments for the family and for additional monthly financial and prayer supporters.
Praise that Brittany has been able to represent SIM at several conferences over the past few months, as well as being involved in developing and/or leading several training workshops for recruiting and mobilizing believers for cross-cultural ministry. Please pray for wisdom as she continues to develop strategies to engage the African American community in missions, for energy with a heavy travel schedule, and for God to provide additional partners so that she can reach full support. Please also pray for the millions who have no relationship with Jesus, for the workers who seek to introduce Him to them, and for those who have come to Christ and are being persecuted
Praise for the opportunity the Ackleys are having to bring encouragement and supplies to the ELWA campus and missionaries in Liberia. They write, “In the three weeks we’ll be there, we can’t do much for the victims of war or the orphans, but we can minister to those who labor day in and day out to present the gospel in very tangible ways, ministering to both body and soul.” Praise that Dick’s sister went with them and will be staying for a year to manage the guest house. Pray that its dedication on December 2 will be a great time of celebration and that those who are traveling there to be a part of it will arrive safely.
Praise for Ralph’s opportunity to serve as part of SIM’s mobilization team. Pray for him as he speaks on university campuses challenging students to consider ministry among nomadic peoples, and in churches providing practical ways to reach out to ethnic groups on their doorstep. Pray also as he serves at SIM in the screening, placement, and training of short and long-term missionaries, as well as in debriefing returning short-term missionaries. Pray also for Maridee’s involvement in the welcoming, interviewing and training new missionaries, as well as debriefing and resourcing returning missionaries, plus providing training and debriefing for missionary kids.
Praise for the recent report from one of SIM’s mission outreach countries that a major persecutor received a vision of Christ – a modern Apostle Paul event – and is now a believer! Pray for him, since he has been captured and is being interrogated. Pray also for his wife and children’s safety. Praise that Marlies’ coaching ministry is going well. Pray that, as she is finishing with her present group, the Lord will provide new clients. Pray for some additional needed financial supporters since, while the Ernsts are deeply grateful to their regular team, some have needed to cut back. Pray also for Eric’s aged parents who have now been transferred to a fine, caring Christian living community in Wisconsin.
