Praise for the 15 years of Sports Friends ministry, which has led to 10,000 trained coaches who are ministering to over 240,000 youth on a weekly basis, resulting in lives and communities being transformed by God’s grace. Pray for Tripp as he is leading a gathering of top SF leaders from around the world in Charlotte as they give thanks for what God has done and seek His plans for the ministry in the coming years in Africa, Asia, and South America.
Praise for the Welches’ 31 years of service in Africa and pray for them now as they serve with SIM International. Pray for Tim, who has been involved with SIM’s Pastor’s Book Set projects, and is now the overall coordinator for PBS project in French for 19 countries. Pray as he seeks funds and pioneers the use of electronic books. Pray for Janet as she advocates for the SIM “Missional Business” team and helps college students and young adults learn how to run a small business in a foreign culture. Pray also for the Welches’ needed financial support.
Praise for the opportunity the Hunts had to reconnect with their family and ministry partners in California. Pray for Rachel as she attends a coaching/mentoring seminar this month. Pray for Shelbey as he works in the International Leadership and Services office and helps roll out a new donation campaign, creates online resources for the office personnel, and assists with redesigning an internal system that SIM uses to share documents. Pray also for additional financial support they need.
Praise that the 500+ page book By Prayer to the Nations: A Short History of SIM, Gary’s six-year project, is completed and now at the publishers. Pray for safety as the Corwins travel 3500 miles at the end of this month and into October – first to the Mission Nexus conference in Dallas, and then on to Orlando for Pioneer Board meetings and to visit family and supporters further south. Pray also for Gary as he prepares to give a seminar on evaluating church planting methods at SIM’s Global Assembly in South Africa in five months.
Praise for safety in travel as the Congdons traveled over 50,000 road and air miles in the US this year on home assignment. Pray for them as they commit full-time to the SIM International Healthcare Team, tasked with providing leadership to medical missionaries serving with SIM around the world. Pray that together the team can strengthen and expand the medical missionary work in Africa and beyond, reaching with compassion the least-reached for Christ.
Praise that Shelbey has been working on developing the new SIM.org website, and has been able to train various countries to add new content to it from their various contexts. Pray that he will be able to move ahead with SIM.org website implementation. Praise for Rachel’s success in arranging the logistics for her director’s Bolivia trip. Pray for her as she also handles the logistics for the SIMSendOff for new appointees July 24-29. Pray also for the Hunts’ planned trip to the Southern California area September 12-19 to meet with and build relationships with those who support them in prayer and finances.
Pray for the ministry of Sports Friends in Bankok, Thailand, where, in a city of millions with so many readily available distractions, there is still room for isolation and loneliness. Pray for the Thai coach as he seeks to develop a sports ministry. He writes, “When I see kids even just show up, that’s encouraging to me. When I see the kids enjoying themselves it helps me want to stick with it – I thank God that I can work with them and serve them.” Pray that many will find Christ and become a part of a church in the city.
Praise for a smooth transition as the Killorens have become Carolinians. Praise for Ginna serving as Medical Director at SIM USA where God is using her former experience working in East Africa with SIM teams. Pray for her ministry and the health team she is enjoying working with. Pray for Nate, who is the International Crisis Response Coordinator, as he applies his past experience in Kenya with AIM AIR and learns more in this new role. Pray for him, currently in Kenya for a week-long training, and then another in Uganda. Pray for God’s guidance and energy as they both seek to support SIM workers worldwide.
Praise for the invitation Tim and Carol have to return to Zambia mid-May to mid-June, where they served for many years, in order to be part of the annual Graduate Enrichment Seminary (GSE) held for alumni of Evangelical University (formerly Theological College of Central Africa). As one of the former Principals invited to this GSE, pray for Tim as he has opportunity to visit classes, attend chapels, and spend individual time with students, SIM colleagues, other friends, and those in church leadership. Pray for preparation, good health and provision of the $4000 needed for the trip.
