Praise that Ken and Phyllis are still serving Jesus around the world and for their supporters who give and pray so they can – some for over 50 years! Pray that God would continue to equip and use them as they disciple many, including a Korean teenager and young leaders in Benin via Skype, and work with 75 children in the Good News club at a local elementary school. Pray that Ken will take every opportunity to share the gospel with the men on his softball team. Pray also for them on their trip to Kenya in February as part of SIM’s ongoing initiative to train new leaders.
Praise that Bob and Carol have answered the call to go to Paraguay to help newly-arriving missionaries become settled, allowing the missionaries on the field to remain in their ministry locations. Pray for safety for them as they fly to Paraguay January 11 and for a good transition to this new ministry, which should last for several months or longer as they see the need. Pray for good health for them both and wisdom as they shepherd several new missionary families. Pray also for the additional finances they need to make this transition.
Praise for the many African nations sending out missionaries, and for the association of the missions, the Movement of African National Initiative, which will be meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and has invited the Brants to attend. Pray for them as they leaveFebruary 24 and return March 15. Pray for Howie as he speaks at a conference of Gurage church leaders the week before the association meeting. Pray also for their involvement in new ministries, which includes both of them being on the board of a ministry helping Asian students train to serve in their own countries.
Praise for Lee’s 29 years of missionary service and her ministry now as a nurse at Sebring. Praise for the healing of several of the residents who had required hospitalization over the past few months. Pray that the five residents who have lost spouses this year may sense God’s presence and comfort. Praise for answered prayer in that a missionary nurse, presently on home assignment, will join the staff at Sebring the end of next summer where she is much needed. Pray also for Lee’s need for additional financial support, since it is now only at 80%.
Praise for a wonderful three-day conference at the SIM Retirement Village in Sebring, Florida, with Rev. Dr. Panya Baba reporting on the wonderful things God is doing in Nigeria in spite of the great difficulties reported in the news. Pray for one of the Robfogels’ Chinese friends who has travelled to Taiwan to visit her aged and ailing parents and family. Pray that the family members will experience love, forgiveness and reconciliation as she shares her new-found faith in Christ. Pray for serious health issues for Edna’s brother, a dear friend from days in Nigeria, plus numerous others.
Praise for Chuck’s safe return from his recent ROYALL (Retiree On Yet Another Labor of Love) ministry trip to Nigeria. Pray for the vision of The ECWA (Evangelical Church Winning All) AIDS Ministry, which seeks to ensure that all pregnant women, especially HIV positive women, have a chance for the healthy delivery of an HIV-free baby. Pray as they reach out to people in the most remote villages, who usually are overlooked. Praise also for the many opportunities with individuals and groups seeking advice from his years of experience.
Praise for Phyllis’ recent two weeks at SIM International presenting, with others, two multi-cultural workshops, and that God answered prayer by making them a stimulating and challenging time with colleagues. Pray for Ken as he recruits new missionaries, currently meeting with a professor from a university. Pray for a good learning experience for the Lloyds and an SIM couple in leadership they are mentoring by Skype. Pray also for their Zambian micro finance partner, who was denied a US visa, as he looks for training opportunities elsewhere. Pray for them as they plan a trip to Nigeria in November.
