Praise for the times Sabrina had to be with friends and family in the US over the holidays and again after the passing of her grandfather. Praise that the winter term of language school has begun and that, while she was not able to go to the next advanced class, Sabrina did pass her Level 3 Japanese proficiency test. Pray for energy, time and discipline to continue in language learning. Pray for guidance as she considers moving and partnering with the church family in Kumamoto. Pray she would remain connected to the Lord and bear the fruit of the Spirit.
Praise that a student in Kent’s English Class and Seeker Bible Study has come to believe in God, see Him as creator and Lord over all and admit that he has not acknowledged Him in his life. Pray that God will continue to work in his heart and bring him to salvation. Praise that God is answering the prayer of Kent and Yuko’s pastor to “minister to the hurting people of the Tohoku region.” Pray that the community, which is filled with many hurting people, would experience the healing grace of God and extend that grace to others. Pray that God would give Kent and Yuko wisdom to balance a very busy schedule.
Praise that the Kidwells have been given the green light to begin their visa process. Pray that it will go smoothly and in good time. Pray for them in the coming weeks as they take language acquisition classes, continue to fundraise (still need $2300 monthly) and pack up their belongings for their move to Japan, hopefully in March. They write, “We thank God that He has brought us this far. We look forward to how He will use us in Japan . . . .”
Praise for the women’s small group that has been meeting regularly for two months. Pray that Jesus will use this group to connect with the six-to-twelve ladies who come. Praise that the community that has been living in temporary housing for several years, which Bethany and the Praise Community Church (PCC) have been visiting, has now received permanent housing placement. Pray that community members will be drawn to participate in the PCC Christmas party and experience God as they hear the message of Christmas there. Pray also that God will provide more finances for Bethany and PCC.
Praise for God’s faithfulness to the Browns over the last five years in Japan and for the progress, they have made in learning Japanese. Pray for their growing opportunity to teach English, as many show an interest in learning it. Pray that this will give multiple opportunities to use Bible stories as lessons in order to bring up conversations that wouldn’t naturally arise. Pray also for the growth of Oasis Chapel, where the Browns are committed to serving for the next five years. Pray for discernment for them as they seek the Lord about what other opportunities in which to invest their time.
Praise for the many people who have invested their lives in Japan to sow the seeds of the gospel and that there is hope that the harvest is coming soon. Praise for the eight churches in the Kumamoto area which have committed to be part of a collaborative effort to reproduce bodies of believers through church planting and disciple making over the next two years. Pray that God would provide the needed support team and finances for Josh and Jess to move to Japan to be a part of the kick-off of this effort in April.

Pray also for good communication and wisdom in completing the revision of her book Discovering the Joy of Parenting (target date 3/2018).
