Praise for a time of refreshment and hearing from God’s Word during a recent Spiritual Retreat at Mbingo Hospital. Pray for Debbie as she writes as well as teaches a Basic Skills Course for surgical residents. Pray that the Lord will provide her a special friend/accountability partner at the hospital. Pray for perseverance, spiritual growth and dependence on Jesus for her and all of the residents. Pray for additional long-term and short-term faculty to help train surgeons. Pray also for two volunteer surgeons to cover for Debbie and others when they must travel to Kenya in January 2017.
Praise for the hospital residents who passed the recent in-service exam. Praise that Mbingo Hospital has become a referral center for much of Cameroon and Eastern Nigeria, but pray for strength for both residents and faculty who face a heavy work load — sometimes doing surgery all night. Pray for the new academic year beginning in August and the two interns coming from Nigeria. Praise for a new surgical faculty member who will begin in 2017, but pray for one or two more. Pray that opportunities to discuss spiritual things with residents and patients will not be missed because of busyness. Pray for Debbie as she returns to Liberia July 23-August 3 to pack her things and say goodbyes.
Praise for the opportunities Debbie has at Mbingo Hospital to use her skills as a surgeon. Pray that all her patients will have a chance to hear and respond to the gospel. Pray for stamina, energy, clear-thinking and health in a job with lots of night work, and for wisdom in teaching and discipling surgical residents. Pray for wisdom as she faces many medical situations for which she has not been trained. Pray also for safety and security in travel as she heads to Greece this month to attend a medical conference.
Praise for Debbie’s opportunity to train surgical residents at Mbingo Hospital in the Cameroon as a surgeon with PAACS (Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons). Pray for her as she is now in the US to prepare for and take her board recertification exam onDecember 14, plus fulfill the Oregon requirement to work at least one day there before returning to Africa in January. Pray that God will continue to equip her to perform orthopedic as well as general surgery and provide the stamina needed for long hours. Pray that Christ will be seen in her in all she does.
Praise for the opportunity Debbie is having to serve as faculty with Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons surgical residency (PAACS) at Mbingo Baptist Hospital in Cameroon – one of 10 PAACS training sites in Africa. Pray for her as she travels in the US this fall to attend various conferences and to take her general surgery recertification exam, which is required every ten years. Pray also for her as she (in consultation with SIM USA) determines her placement for future ministry.
