Praise for all that God has done in and through the Sanderfers since their move to a new area a year ago, including home set up, continued language learning, hosting multiple short-term teams and beginning village visits to collect health survey information. Pray for strength and encouragement as they continue to live in the midst of people from another religion, tolerate the heat and humidity and seek to be Christ’s hands and feet to the lost.
Praise that the Boehme family is back in Japan after a year of home assignment. Pray for wisdom in pacing themselves as they spend time with people and set up their new home. Praise that they returned in time to participate in an annual kids camp in Sendai and that seven kids received baptism there! Pray that these seven and others will continue to grow closer to the Lord.
Praise for Beth’s uncomplicated return to Niger July 5 from home assignment. Pray as she focuses on welcoming 13 new staff members coming to Sahel Academy as they adjust to new people, places, and languages. Pray they will be welcomed well and become part of a community seeking the Lord together. As the new school year begins, pray for staff and students, and for the Holy Spirit’s guidance for Beth in her member care role. Pray also for the critical need of a Director and Secondary School Principal for the academy.
Praise for the growing SIM Heath Ministry Leadership Team whose mission is to shape, serve and strengthen SIM Health Ministries worldwide. Pray for the team members as they refine the focus of their strategic plan. Pray also as they return to Kenya September 11 to host the Healthcare Conference and Leadership Initiative planned for September 16-21. Pray that the expected 53 attendees from seven countries will improve in their knowledge and skill plus network effectively. Pray for John as he does the logistics for the conference.
Praise for the Adairs’ time away to be refreshed, and that the mission invests in missionaries by providing for worship and teaching times as well as care for the children. Pray for the family as they participate in several large kids’ events in their neighborhood, plus an English camp with a team from the US. Pray for growth in the twice-a-month worship services they are having in their neighborhood. Pray that one young Christian lady who will be studying in Finland will stay strong in her faith while she is gone.
Praise that TEN3’s Nigeria Director has three special opportunities ahead to share “Godly Use of Technology Skills.” Pray as she also consults with the Plateau State Ministry of Education in public schools and that many more schools will become interested in using TEN3’s curriculum. Pray for Ken as he works with an interested ministry in Tanzania. Pray also as he and his team work on TEN3 operating system upgrades and also install new server software. Pray for Cora who is directing activities at SIM’S Florida Retirement Center’s Assisted Living Facility.
Praise for a new home in a rural area for the Bosscher family that will be a place of retreat as they engage in a hard year of learning the Guarani language. Praise also that they were able to help with construction of another church building in a Mbya Guarani community recently, which encouraged in them the desire to speak the language. Pray they will make solid progress as they study, connect well with their new neighbors and have open doors and boldness to share the gospel with them.
Praise for the opportunity Lee has to serve as a nurse for the Sebring Retirement Village, and that the residents have been experiencing a season of good health apart from the challenges of the aging process. Pray for stamina for her, since she will be the only nurse on the campus 24/7 for four weeks while the other one returns to Ethiopia to minister. Pray also that the Lord will raise up a person to replace her, as she plans to retire in June of 2019.
Praise for the protection of SIM’s property and staff during recent unrest in Doro and the safe evacuation for Vicki and the other SIM personnel to Kenya. Praise especially for the 22 baptisms that took place the day before the unrest began. Pray that many more people would follow Jesus. Pray for the national staff as they keep the clinic open at a lower level during the team’s absence. Pray too for wisdom in decision making about their return to Doro. Pray for grace and peace for both their Mabaan and refugee friends during this difficult time.
