What Is SIM?
SIM is a community of God's people who delight to worship Him and are passionate about the gospel, seeking to fulfill the mission of Jesus Christ in the world.
SIM has more than 1,600 active missionaries serving in over 40 countries on 5 continents. We are made up of united organizations that began more than 100 years ago, including Africa Evangelical Fellowship, Andes Evangelical Mission, International Christian Fellowship, and Sudan Interior Mission. Our field ministries work with about 15,250 congregations with about 9 million members and adherents.

As U.S. Director of SIM, I have had the privilege of
traveling to many parts of the world where SIM serves. I
have seen the effects of poverty, sickness, famine, natural
disasters, and war, and I have looked into the faces of those
who experience daily hardship and suffering.
Almost universally, people in difficult situations are looking
for two things: help and hope. That's why |
every one of SIM's
ministries is multifaceted with programs to meet the physical,
emotional, and spiritual needs of the people we serve.
 |
As it says in James 2:15–16, if we simply say to those who
are without food or clothing, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm
and well fed," but we do nothing about their physical needs,
what good is it? We have not provided the help they so
desperately need. On the other hand, if we simply meet their
physical needs and neglect to offer them the free gift of God's
salvation, we have failed to give them the lasting hope they so
desperately desire.
Sadly, many people look for hope in the wrong places
and are constantly disappointed. But when it's grounded
in the love of God and the truth of His Word, "hope does not
disappoint" (Rom. 5:5).
Therefore, whether SIM is ministering to the health needs of people in Southern Sudan, strengthening the
Church in Paraguay, alleviating arsenic poisoning in
Bangladesh, reaching out to young people in Nigeria, or meeting any other |
need worldwide, every one of
our ministries aims to reach people with the Good News and
eternal hope of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Because I'm confident you believe in the importance of that
hope, I'm sure you will be encouraged by this newsletter that
shows just a few of the many ways God is using your gifts to
help SIM evangelize the unreached, minister to human need,
and strengthen His Church around the world. Please take a
moment to read it today, and as you do, please know that your
support is greatly appreciated.
