As U.S. Director of SIM, I have had the privilege of
traveling to many parts of the world where SIM serves. I
have seen the effects of poverty, sickness, famine, natural
disasters, and war, and I have looked into the faces of those
who experience daily hardship and suffering.
Almost universally, people in difficult situations are looking
for two things: help and hope. That's why every one of SIM's
ministries is multifaceted with programs to meet the physical,
emotional, and spiritual needs of the people we serve.

| Dr. McKissick's vision for the Guarani-speaking people of rural Paraguay reached beyond providing medical care and sharing the gospel. He wanted to help shape Paraguayan believers into more mature disciples. |

In Paraguay, when people see Dr. McKissick at one of SIM's Mobile Medical Evangelism Clinics, they receive more than free medical care. They experience the love and compassion of Christ and are introduced to the Great Physician Himself.
When the ministry began in 2007, Dr. McKissick provided most of the spiritual instruction for waiting patients. He personally prayed over the majority of his patients and made sure a gospel presentation was printed on the back of each prescription he gave. But Dr. McKissick's vision for the Guarani-speaking people of rural Paraguay reached beyond providing medical care and sharing the gospel. He wanted to help shape Paraguayan believers into more mature disciples.

In the past year, the ministry has experienced tremendous results. People who have come to
Christ through the clinics are getting involved in local congregations, and local believers are increasing their involvement in the clinics. Now local believers are delivering evangelistic messages, sharing their testimonies, and praying with and for the patients--and they are beginning to see fruit stemming from their newfound boldness for Christ.
Please pray that local believers will become more passionate about sharing their faith and that God's Word will produce fruit in the lives where it is sown. Pray also that God would provide the workers and resources needed for this ministry of physical and spiritual healing to continue.
