As U.S. Director of SIM, I have had the privilege of traveling to many parts of the world where SIM serves. I have seen the effects of poverty, sickness, famine, natural disasters, and war, and I have looked into the faces of those who experience daily hardship and suffering.

Almost universally, people in difficult situations are looking for two things: help and hope. That's why every one of SIM's ministries is multifaceted with programs to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the people we serve.
Pass It On

Planning for the distribution of your estate at death so that it's in harmony with God's plan of stewardship is one of the most important decisions you will make.

To do so, you need to be informed about such things as income and estate taxes, probate, the use of a will versus a revocable living trust, charitable trusts, and many other complex issues of estate planning.

SIM has a program in place that will help you with your estate planning needs. For more information about this program, please contact Mike Dey by e-mail at mike.dey@sim.org or by phone at (800) 521-6449.
In Southern Sudan, the depth of suffering endured by the people is beyond our comprehension. The trials and hardships they face are overwhelming, and hope seems hard to find. But by God's grace, and with the faithful support of friends like you, SIM is bringing hope to the hopeless every day.

Each month, the medical team at our clinic in Doro treats more than 1,000 patients for treatable ailments such as malaria and dehydration as well as devastating diseases like cancer. One woman came to our clinic because she could no longer endure her pain. After examining her, Dr. Angelina explained her tragic situation. Breast cancer had spread so far that nothing could be done to stop it. Her life would be cut short by the disease. But still, there was hope.

With the help of an interpreter, Dr. Angelina carefully explained how Christ had suffered for her
salvation. It was the first time the woman had heard the gospel, and she embraced it with great enthusiasm. This woman was sick and dying when she came to the clinic. When she left, she had new life, new hope, and the joy of God's salvation.

Thanks to your support, SIM's clinic in Southern Sudan has been helping people like this woman find hope in the midst of hardship for more than a year. But now, with the recent opening of our Village of Hope ("Ban Keeyin") Nutrition Center and the graduation of our first class of 10 students from our Community Health Worker Training Program, the people of Southern Sudan have even more opportunities to find hope in the midst of hardship.

The Village of Hope Nutrition Center only opened last fall, but it has already achieved tremendous results. More than 100 severely malnourished children have now been treated with nutritious food and necessary medical care--regaining their health, achieving age-appropriate weights, and starting to grow again--and have been able to return home with their mothers!

While the clinic and nutrition center busily treat those who come, our Community Health Worker Training Program is equipping Sudanese men and women with skills to take basic healthcare to the villages. Our goal is to graduate health-care workers who embrace a Christian view of health and have a desire to serve their communities with both excellence and humility. Now our first class of graduates is effectively bringing hope and healing to people who might otherwise be unable to receive medical care.

Although there is still much hardship and suffering in Sudan, your support of SIM's health project is a greatly appreciated blessing for the people who find both hope and healing as a result. Please pray that as these ministries help lift the unbearable physical burdens of the people of Southern Sudan that they would also help people give their spiritual burdens to Christ.

Pray also that God would provide the financial resources needed to keep these ministries going and that God would send more workers to join in this deeply fulfilling, joyful place of service where we are providing hope for the hopeless every day.
