The SIM team serving in Doro as part of Rebuilding Sudan: Nation and Church has recently witnessed many examples of what they describe as "a rich tapestry of God's grace."
These servants of Christ work among the Mabaan people, more than 10,000 of whom returned from exile in 2008. This was a cause of rejoicing, along with some exciting milestones: The adult education students successfully completed their final level; the first class of community health workers graduated and went out to serve; a nutrition village became a life-changing reality; and the long-awaited opportunity to open a clinic came when the army vacated the ruins of SIM's old hospital.
The Doro team reports that nearly 1,000 patients a month are being cared for at the medical clinic, while village midwives are being trained to understand the importance of sterile conditions. More than 90 severely malnourished children have experienced the love of Christ in the Village of Hope. Plans are underway for the building of a maternity clinic with facilities to care for high-risk pregnancies and sick newborns. The Lord has also prompted an engineer to leave his job in the UK to come with his wife, a doctor, to join the Sudan team. |
God is healing minds and bodies in poverty-stricken Southern Sudan thanks to the support of faithful mission friends like you. Please continue praying to strengthen the Church and glorify God as we serve people returning home after years of civil war. With your help, SIM will continue to love with compassionate, Christ-centered health care, education, and health-worker training.
