Praise for the renewal and encouragement Roger and Hiroko experienced at their first care-givers retreat, which included teams from three other homes for HIV+ boys and girls and trafficking survivors. Pray as they seek a new rental site for the aftercare home in a neighborhood close to where they have purchased land for a future long-term building. Pray for funds to buy the adjacent strip of land. Pray also for a full-time counsellor and junior social worker. Praise that a girl who has lived in the aftercare home for a few years may stay until age 18, continuing the sewing apprenticeship she is in.
Praise that God has provided a time and place of refuge for Josh and Bethany in North Carolina and for the opportunity they have to serve workers overseas. Praise also that Josh is available to lead a team of college students to Greece this month. Pray for good relationships among the team members, and that they would be a blessing to the refugee community they will be serving while there. Pray also for wisdom regarding the next steps for Josh and Bethany.
Praise that Jamie is now impacting lives of immigrant men in many areas. Pray for one in France and another in East Africa who have come to faith in Christ through using their cell phones to do Bible courses that Jamie adapted for a mobile platform. Praise that the business he works with has expanded to around ten stores that Jamie visits in the area. Pray for wisdom and boldness for Jamie as he visits shops and shares the gospel, and that the church will be established among the immigrant population. Pray too for additional outreach funds.
Praise for the encouraging meeting in a friend’s home where, after a fine meal, 27 people heard the story of the Mittowers’ conversion and call to missions, their time in Africa and their current ministry of computer service and prayer in the SIM USA office. Pray for Mitch as he provides vital computer assistance to office staff as well as to overseas missionaries. Pray for Teresa as she selects and edits stories to be used in the SIM By Prayer publication published every two months. Pray also as she and their daughter finish her senior year of homeschool.
Praise that the move of the international school to its new building went well and for the improvements this move has made to school life. Pray for Steve who is busy in the school’s finance office and is working to finalize the budget for next year. Pray for grace for all involved in the transition of several key people in leadership positions and the provision of several teachers for next year. Praise that Sherree is completing her language studies and helping to re-establish a play ministry in the children’s ward of a local hospital. Pray for wisdom, volunteers and meaningful relationships with the families.
Praise for the miraculous story of a Christian wife that resulted in the conversion of her husband who said, “I want to serve the God of the Christians. He is the One who knows and has power to do what no one else can.” Praise for an agricultural training that Gene participated in for national leaders and pastors to help them provide for their families and churches. Pray for his upcoming preaching, teaching, and interaction with church and mission leaders, and for wisdom to help them in the issues they face. Pray also that the entire Brooks family will adjust well to life in Liberia.
Praise that the Howells had the opportunity to share with churches about their ministry in Paraguay on home assignment and have returned for another term of service. They write, “We strongly desire to see healthy and vibrant churches in Paraguay.” Pray that their language ability will grow, and that hearts will be softened towards the gospel as they interact with people. Pray that Christians will have an increased desire to attend Bible studies and grow in their faith. Pray for wisdom on how to disciple six believers in Jataity.
Praise for the opportunity Sabrina had to welcome two new missionary families to Japan and to spend some time with them and other missionaries and staff. Pray for energy, time, and discipline to continue learning Japanese in the Advanced Level 1 Reading and Writing class. Pray also that she can be more intentional about spending time in solitude with God, which she realizes must be a priority and necessity for her life and ministry – in Tokyo where there are more people per square foot than any other city!
Praise for the ministry the Moores have in Kenya making disciples who make disciples using a uniquely powerful ministry called CellKenya that fosters spiritual growth through community in the rural areas of the country. Pray for Pahtyana as she connects with good resources for future ministry possibilities. Pray for the family as it prepares for an upcoming home assignment with the many things still left to do before departure and the tough job of saying goodbyes to friends and ministry partners. Pray for safety in their travels and rest and refreshing while here.
