Praise that God heard and answered the Seguras’ prayers for guidance and opportunity to build relationships with the families of their soccer team. Praise for the members of one family that has come to Christ and is now being discipled and growing in their walks with Him. Pray that they would continue to grow in their understanding of God and desire to share the gospel with others. Pray for the provision of financial support for the Seguras so they can continue to work with Sports Friends full-time.
Praise for Bethany’s small group that is going through the Growth Series. Pray they would be encouraged to work out their faith together even as they experience “growing pains.” Praise for the ladies in Ishinomaki who have been studying the Bible together monthly for a year to come to Christ for salvation. Pray that these ladies will help connect Bethany and the team she works with to others in the community so they can share Christ in and through these relationships.
Praise for the opportunity to be involved in Perspectives classes as well as the other administrative tasks the Arancibias have, including Timara teaching a Missiology course at the seminary. Pray that God will give missionary vision and zeal to Bolivian churches so that they will send out seminary students who are called into missions. Pray that the Arancibias will discern God’s leading as to their part in His plans for helping churches to mobilize.
Praise that Courtney has accepted the position of Finance Manager for Sports Friends. Pray for her as she builds a team of prayer and financial partners to work with her to see the global church grow and youth be discipled worldwide. Pray especially for the summer camps being held in many countries as a natural complement to church-centered sports ministries. Pray that the lives of the youth will be changed as they encounter the Lord and that their families and communities will be impacted.
Praise for Benjamin’s current opportunity to minister in Africa for two weeks. He writes, “I’m asking prayer so that I can be emotionally ready and that Christ will take my load.” Pray for him in the heavy responsibility of lecturing 19 times and leading many workshops. Pray for wisdom as he prepares current and future African missionaries to be effective in bringing people of another religion to Christ. Pray for Christine as she flies to join him in West Africa on August 17.
Praise that Tim and Barbie have witnessed many answers to prayer during their home assignment. Pray for patience and endurance while packing to return to Africa and taking care for all the unfinished projects before they leave on August 10. Pray that God will provide for all their needs and protect the hearts of their loved ones as they say good-bye again. Pray also for grace and strength for their arrival and transition back into the ministry of Bible translation.
Praise for the work Amy is doing with SORA, a missional business that employs women in poor areas surrounding Manila. Pray for more corporations to provide the materials needed for weaving purses, etc. Pray for the establishment of a project in a new area, that interested women will learn how to weave quickly, and participate in Biblical Values Training & Discipleship. Pray for more disciples for the partner communities. Praise that one young woman recently became a Christian and pray that she will grow in her faith.
Praise that Dee finished her coursework for her Ph.D. from Southern Seminary and had two weeks of rest when her mom came for a visit. Pray for perseverance and wisdom as she studies for comprehensive exams and goes through the dissertation process in preparation for her return to Nigeria to teach at a seminary there. Pray for safety for Nigerians and the growth of the church, since there has been much violence against Christians recently.
Praise that the Faders are leaving for Uganda on August 16 to do discipleship and theological training with South Sudanese refugees who have moved there. Praise also that a furnished house has been provided for them for the first few months. Pray for them as they move to this new country and for their oldest son who will be going to boarding school in Kenya. Pray for God’s direction for this new ministry and help in building new relationships.
