Praise for the trip Danielle was able to take back to the coast to visit the village where she had lived and taught to attend the wedding of a young woman from the family that “adopted” Danielle. Praise for an opportunity to go into Doro, South Sudan, on a vision trip for a week, accompanying different people to see their ministries and seeing potential open doors for ministry. Pray for the meetings that will now take place with leadership and that God would make it clear what He has for her as a long-term placement plus wisdom for how to move forward.
Praise that Judy has finished and mailed the last of her 2014-15 Master’s degree lectures for her students. Pray for wisdom as she works with them on their term papers, doctoral dissertations, and course exams. Pray that a visa will be granted and arrangements made for one of her doctoral students to spend the fall quarter at a good theological seminary in the US. Pray also for long-term solutions for peace and stability in the Central African Republic, where the Bangui Evangelical School of Theology holds its undergraduate programs.
Praise for the appreciation shown by students at the Biblical Seminary of the Americas for Josh’s teaching two days a week. Praise also for God’s work in bringing people to Jesus in Montevideo. Pray for Josh as he teaches the youth Sunday school at their church along with Uruguayan friends, and for Rosy as she and her friend teach the children’s Sunday school. Praise for a friend who was recently baptized, and pray for two girls Rosy has been discipling who are struggling spiritually and need to return to their commitment to follow Christ. Pray also for two Brazilian financial supporters who have been facing business struggles.
Praise for the recent events Doug has attended, including Funding Your Ministry Symposium in CO, Multicultural Team Training Worship and SIMStart Orientation for new missionaries in Charlotte, as well as Rio Grande Bible Institute board meetings in TX. Pray for Bible Institute students going out on summer missions, including two Columbians serving with SIM. Pray for Doug, Esther and SIM teammates as they seek to serve missionaries and their supporters efficiently. Pray for people called by God for the over 2100 missionary positions not yet filled, and for those who will support them in prayer and finances.
Praise that they have completed final exams at Kagoro Seminary (ETSK). Pray as they now engage in correcting them and papers. Pray for Dennis as temporary chairman of the admissions committee as they approve students for summer school courses and for the August semester. Pray also as he prepares to teach a three-week course on “Spiritual Warfare” to about fifteen graduate students June 15 to July 3. Pray that Coletta’s nursing license can soon be processed. Pray SIM Nigeria’s missionary visa quota will be re-instated by the Ministry of the Interior, since about 60 SIM missionary positions, including Dennis’, have been marked “non-renewable.”
Praise that their health program in the refugee camp saw almost 15,000 patients in the last six months. Pray for protection for people now that they have entered the rainy season, which is even a busier time, bringing malaria and other illnesses. Pray for Ruth as she shares the gospel in the clinic, grows in knowledge, becomes more proficient in Arabic, and manages a group of ladies starting microfinance businesses to help their families. Praise that the Nubian church she is part of continues to grow with many being baptized. Pray that long-term workers currently raising support would soon be able to join the team.
Praise for Phyllis’ recent two weeks at SIM International presenting, with others, two multi-cultural workshops, and that God answered prayer by making them a stimulating and challenging time with colleagues. Pray for Ken as he recruits new missionaries, currently meeting with a professor from a university. Pray for a good learning experience for the Lloyds and an SIM couple in leadership they are mentoring by Skype. Pray also for their Zambian micro finance partner, who was denied a US visa, as he looks for training opportunities elsewhere. Pray for them as they plan a trip to Nigeria in November.
Praise for a successful move to northern California to be in proximity to their growing family. Pray for the right house to purchase in the best location for their ministry of “motivating, coaching and encouraging a Kingdom lifestyle with SIM” among those interested in missions as well as appointees preparing for the field. Praise for seeing ministry objectives fulfilled in the lives of a number of couples during the last few months. Praise also that, since they are close to a major agricultural university, they have opportunity to share the gospel cross-culturally with students from the large international student population, some from creative-access countries.
Praise that this year Kijabe Hospital is celebrating 100 years of healthcare to God’s glory, and for the part Erik has there as a pediatric physician. Pray for him and his team as they seek to meet the needs of children, including those with cancer. Pray that the new pediatric building called BethanyKids Children’s Centre will have adequate funding and be completed and ready to use in September, which will provide the possibility of offering affordable, more broadly-based cancer treatment for kids.
