Pray for the Gradones as they settle in Birmingham and seek to develop relationships in their neighborhood and church. Praise for the opportunity J.P. had to be a part of the dynamic disciple-making movement throughout Africa by attending training sessions for sixteen Disciple-making Leaders who came from several countries. Pray for them as they become more and more equipped to expand and deepen the disciple-making movement. Pray for J.P. as he coordinates the final edit and production of the discipleship manual – as well as its translation into French, Portuguese and Swahili.
Praise for the Carters’ uneventful return to Kenya and ministry at Kijabe Hospital and Moffat Bible College. Pray for Bob as he presents a concept paper to the hospital’s administration regarding the establishment of an inpatient hospice unit. Pray also as MBC plans for a surge in student numbers, in response to new recruitment efforts, and the additional demands on infrastructure, course offerings, teaching and support staff, and funding a surge will make. Pray also for a rapid recovery for Hope who was to have knee replacement surgery January 30.
Praise that Vicki’s dad is growing stronger, making it appear possible that she will be able to return to her ministry in Doro sometime in March. Pray that this will happen, with friends and family continuing needed care. Praise that, while fighting in some areas of South Sudan continues, Doro is fairly stable. Pray for at least 20 people on leprosy treatment that Vicki will be caring for. Pray also for the Mabaan church leaders who are visiting the refugee camps to encourage new believers. Praise that the Mabaan now have the whole Bible in their language.
Praise for the missionary appointees and short-termers on campus recently for training. Pray for those now seeking to raise their prayer and financial support teams and for those soon leaving for the field. Pray for Charlie as he travels with a team from his church to Peru February 2-9 to assist and encourage churches and pastors in remote areas. Pray for safety and effective ministry. Pray for Tami at home as she coaches SIM missionaries and others to live out God’s calling. Pray also for the February SIM prayer campaign for the supply of teachers for SIM partnering schools who serve missionary families overseas.
Praise for the 15 years of Sports Friends ministry, which has led to 10,000 trained coaches who are ministering to over 240,000 youth on a weekly basis, resulting in lives and communities being transformed by God’s grace. Pray for Tripp as he is leading a gathering of top SF leaders from around the world in Charlotte as they give thanks for what God has done and seek His plans for the ministry in the coming years in Africa, Asia, and South America.
Praise for the recent meeting with a village chief and his son who gave permission to begin working in their village. Pray as they visit regularly and begin doing a health survey to identify those who suffer from diabetes and high blood pressure with the goal of doing community health education. Pray for good relationships and for household Bible reading groups to be formed. Pray also as Corey continues selling Scripture materials in village markets, and that he will be aware of the Spirit’s direction as he interacts with people.
Praise for the Goldes’ safe return to Niger with all of their luggage and for the great blessing they had of attending SIM Niger Spiritual Life Conference, where they studied Scripture and prayed for field ministries. Pray now for Ken and Kathie as they have resumed their ministry responsibilities – Kathie in her role as teacher and Ken in his financial role in the office. Pray as he helps missionaries understand their finances. Pray for strength for SIM Niger missionaries who have many role changes but desire effective outreach to non-believers.
Praise for the Welches’ 31 years of service in Africa and pray for them now as they serve with SIM International. Pray for Tim, who has been involved with SIM’s Pastor’s Book Set projects, and is now the overall coordinator for PBS project in French for 19 countries. Pray as he seeks funds and pioneers the use of electronic books. Pray for Janet as she advocates for the SIM “Missional Business” team and helps college students and young adults learn how to run a small business in a foreign culture. Pray also for the Welches’ needed financial support.
Praise for the rest and reconnections Steve and Sherree had over the holidays in Thailand. Pray for them as they deal with the cold, continue language learning, and work to balance learning and ministry. Praise for the successful walk-a-thon held in January that raised over $55,000 toward the new building for the international study center. Pray that the additional funds needed will come in and for the transition to the new site in February. Pray for wisdom for Steve as he leads the school/staff through the budgeting process.
