Praise for Andre’s present opportunity for home assignment here in the US. Pray for visits with friends and supporters and for debriefing and future planning, including a “Replenish Spiritual Retreat” in June at SIM USA in Charlotte. Pray also for the Bible School in Benin as it seeks to determine how it can best meet the needs of both non-high school and high school graduates who desire pastoral training for ministry. Pray also for plans being made for a Global Leadership Summit in the Parakou region for this fall to offer vision, inspiration and practical skills to professional people.
Praise for progress in building the first primary Christian school in Lindi. Pray for funds needed to complete the project. Pray for Jason as he helps lead a weekly Bible study at the church plant in Kitunda and that the young believers will grow in their faith and share the gospel. Praise that the young men Jason is teaching every Monday are growing, and pray that they soon will be prepared to disciple a group on their own. Praise that many children who watched the Jesus film recently prayed to receive Christ. Pray they will mature in faith. Pray also for protection for the whole family from malaria.
Praise for the opportunity and boldness Brittany had to share about her faith with a friend—including the Scripture verse that she had been learning in the language. Pray that God would continue to give Brittany open doors to share and that her friend would come to know Jesus personally. Pray that God would reveal Himself to another friend as well. Brittany shares, “The enemy is really working hard in her spirit right now. But we know that He has overcome and is able to shine forth His light into her heart!”
Praise for the opportunity Kevin had to travel to another country to connect with hospital administrators, introduce his team’s hospital software, and share his faith. Pray that further involvement will be forthcoming. Pray also for him as he transitions back to the US to focus on a relationship with a godly woman and to learn more about using business as mission. Pray that as he courts this young lady, he can also maximize his learning and prep time while here so as to one day better meet people’s IT needs and share the good news with them.
Praise for the many friendships made, lessons learned and people impacted during the year the Delagrange family had in Loja, Ecuador. Pray for good adjustment as they have just returned to the US and will head to North Carolina in May for debriefing. They share, “We would like to think that we’ll be returning soon for an extended second term. However, we ask for your prayers as we discern with family and pastors what our next steps are upon returning to the States.”
Praise that Josh and Jess have received their visas and have arrived in Japan to start their first term! Pray for grace and strength for them as they transition to Kyushu and adjust to their new lives. Pray that they would be at their best so that they can take in all the information that is coming their way. Pray also that they would be able to apply all they learned in their language acquisition training and make good progress in language and culture learning.
Praise for the opportunity Dinesh and Shannon had to help first-generation believers make Easter their own celebration – so different from their former observations of many festivals to different gods. Praise for the Bible study being held in the village of a man Dinesh is discipling. Pray that the believers in the group will grow, that the non-believers will come to faith, and that a solid church will be planted there ultimately to be pastored by this disciple. Pray also that a senior doctor will be assigned to the hospital in their village to help relieve Dinesh who serves as a doctor there.
Praise for the opportunity Chris had to travel to Chad to maintain partnerships with other missions and ministries, to be encouraged by their ministries and challenged to send more missionaries to share the gospel with those who have never heard. Pray for him as he shepherds the East Africa Sending Office, which has accepted more than 35 new missionary units who are being prepared for missionary service. He writes, “Pray for us because sending and supporting 25 active missionary families in 12 different countries around the world is no small ministry!”
Praise for the Snyders’ opportunity to serve at SIM USA headquarters, helping in the process of “getting people to the field and keeping them there.” Pray for them as they serve in maintenance, construction, hospitality and prayer. Pray for safety and wisdom for Richard in his main responsibility of maintaining the heating, ventilation and air conditioning for the eight campus buildings. Pray for stamina for Susan as she serves at the SIM Guest House, which has 16 resident rooms, in serving the guests – especially in a month like April with four major missionary training events.
